Medusa began life as a girl so lovely she made Athena jealous. Such beauty turned Poseidon's head. He seduced the girl but, unfortunately for her did so in one of Athena's temples. Such an affront to Athena would not go unpunished particularly by one already in ill favor. So Medusa was turned by Athena into a gorgon. 

Young Medusa is 5-1/2" tall (sitting on the rock base). She is hand-sculpted from Fimo polymer clay on wire armature. She is a unique piece because no molds were used in sculpturing of her. 

Young Medusa has green hand-painted eyes . Green snakes in her hair are also made of polymer clay with eyes of yellow rhinestones.

Young Medusa's dress is made of white translucent polymer clay.

Young Medusa sits on a rock that her snakes also like very much. The rock is a separate piece, and it is also made of polymer clay.
